Grapevine Fall and Winter Camps

Did you know?

  • 91% of Parents want their Child to learn Computer Science (Source: 2016 Gallup Poll) yet most schools don't teach it
  • There are currently over 500,000 open computing jobs in the US and that number is expected to grow at twice the rate of all other jobs (Source: Bureau of Labor Statistics)
  • Engineering and Computer science are the top 2 paying college degrees (Source: National Association of Colleges and Employers)

During these three-day-long holiday camps we'll delve into all things Science. Join us in Grapevine for some electronics, coding, maker projects, robotics, graphic design and 3D Printing. (New activities will be offered every single day!)

 Grapevine Camps

Thanksgiving Week: Monday, Nov. 19 - Wednesday, Nov. 21, 9:00am-2:00pm

"Innovation Through Creative Design"

Creative thinking, learning new skills, then bringing ideas to life: choose one track, or try them all: 3D Printing, Graphic Design, Stop-motion Animation, Sewable/Wearable technology, making and sewing with textiles, and more. Come with your own ideas, or use our daily brainstorm session and the Stanford Design Thinking Model to inspire the things you'll make and do at camp. This camp is okay for students who have no experience, and for those who have some exposure to design software and/or concepts.

Christmas Week: Wednesday, Dec. 26 - Friday, Dec. 28, 9:00am-2:00pm

"Creative Computing with Scratch, Part One"

Get up and coding fast while building a great foundation for learning programming languages! This camp features analog logic games and guided exploration of MIT’s Scratch program. Beginners will learn about the Scratch interface while making their first working products; specific challenges for more experienced campers will grow their exposure and launch them into next level coding (we will meet all learners “where they are,” so we gladly dabble in HTML, Python, JavaScript, and other languages for children who are able and interested). We will even offer some experiences in robotics, VR, art, and/or electronics during breaks in this week.

New Year Week: Wednesday, Jan. 2 - Friday, Jan. 4, 9:00am-2:00pm

"Creative Computing with Scratch, Part Two"

The same as our Part One Camp but with all new projects and hands-on invention through the use of circuit boards like Makey Makey and micro:bit. Feel free to attend one or both camps; either one is fine for beginners or more experienced coders.

Camps are best for students six to twelve years old. No experience with coding required, but it's best if coding students can read. Please bring your lunch; we will have snacks and water, too.
